Scooters are drawing more interest than ever for their low environmental impact, and Vespa is capitalizing on that trend by teaming up with mobile provider Sprint in a promotion intended to encourage cell phone recycling.

"Sprint Green on the Go" rewards folks who turn in old cell phones by offering them a chance to win one of six Vespa LX scooters, and up to $250 towards a new phone, including Samsung's Replenish, an eco-friendly Android handset on the Sprint network.

The buyback program is available at any nationwide Sprint store, but the added Vespa dimension will be available in Boston on July 30 and 31, and in New York on August 6 and 13.
